Brighton Grammar’s Winner?

The group met a few times this week following our return to school. They really enjoyed reading the books and listening to the story on Storybox Library.

After much discussion, they chose BAT VS POSS as their favourite book which they felt best met the criteria.

Some of their responses:

  • Rhyming pattern
  • Interesting and varied vocab – unusual verbs- crept, shriek, gazed
  • Great use of humour with belching and pooing
  • Features Australian animals- range of animals to discover and research ie miner bird
  • Moral of 2nd chances and forgiveness – gives the story more depth than a simple disagreement
  • Investigates theme of friendship
  • Interesting setting- a tree with day and night
  • Liked the use of purple for the night in the illustrations (instead of black)
  • Setting in a tree was intriguing
  • Really good length of story
